Biography
Suzanne Buchta is Managing Director in Debt Capital Markets and a 16 year veteran at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Her team work across global regions and industry lines to advise capital markets clients on product-specific financings, including Green Bonds.

Buchta has been active in advising issuers and consulting investors on Green Bonds since 2010. Her team brought the first retail Green Bonds in 2011, met with Green Bond investors around the globe and helped to garner mandates for a broad range of key Green Bond benchmark issuances.

Along with Citigroup, Buchta co-authored a white paper on the framework for green bonds. Published in September 2013, the white paper formed the basis for the 'Green Bond Principles', which was published in January 2014. These guidelines are quickly becoming a recognised market standard for transparency and disclosure for green bonds and are now managed by ICMA.

In 2014, Buchta was chosen as a Bloomberg New Energy Finance FiRe Finalist for her work on Catapulting Green Bonds from Niche Market to a Mainstream Market. She spoke on Green Bonds at the United Nation’s Abu Dhabi Ascent, and appeared at a number of other conferences globally; addressing various green bond topics. Recently, Buchta was named the 2015 Financial News’s Editor’s Choice for her instrumental role in the green bond market.

Buchta holds a master’s degree in Mathematics from UCN Chapel Hill, a Fulbright Fellowship from Melbourne University and a BA from College of the Holy Cross.
