Useful information for delegates

Thank you to all our delegates for registering to attend A Cool World, the world’s first international congress dedicated to clean cooling. This page will provide you with all the information you need for the congress.

Getting here

By rail

Most cross-country services to Birmingham arrive at New Street station. Up to six trains an hour depart for the University on the cross-city line (final destination Longbridge or Redditch). The congress venue is a ten-minute walk from University station

By bus

Numbers 63, X61 and X64 travel to the University’s Edgbaston and Selly Oak campuses via the Bristol Road, while numbers 98 and 99 serve the Medical School and Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The services run frequently from the city centre.

By motorway

Approaching from the north west or south east along the M6:

  • Leave at Junction 6 (signposted Birmingham Central) to join the A38(M)
  • At the end of the motorway, keep to the right, go over a flyover, then through some underpasses to join the A38 Bristol Road
  • The University is on your right, two and a half miles from the city centre

Approaching from the M42 north:

  • Leave at Junction 8 to join the M6 northbound and follow the instructions above

Approaching from the south west:

  • Leave the M5 at Junction 4 (signposted Birmingham SW) to join the A38 Birmingham (South West)
  • The University is approximately eight miles from the motorway

Approaching from the M40:

  • It is easier to turn south on the M42 and leave at Junction 1, heading north on the A38 Bristol Road towards Birmingham
  • The University is approximately eight miles from the motorway

Parking

The nearest car park is the North East Car Park on 52 Pritchatts Road, please use the post code B15 2SA.  Pay and Display rates of:

  • Up to 1 hour £2.50
  • 1–3 hours £4.00
  • 3–5 hours £5.50
  • 5–8 hours £6.20
  • Up to 10 hours £7.00

By taxi

There are taxi ranks at New Street station and throughout the city centre. The journey to the University takes about 20 minutes. For a list of taxi services in the local area please follow the link: taxi services.
