About the Institute of Judicial Administration

The Institute of Judicial Administration is an independent research institution dedicated to research into the realities of our justice system of the highest order.

Because the way in which the law is administered influences the impact of the law as much as its substantive content, our research focuses upon this very administration by judicial and quasi-judicial bodies.

We look back with pride upon research by the Institute which, perhaps due to its very controversy, has helped shape the British justice system over the last 42 years and forwards to critically accompanying our further evolving system as it seeks to discharge its functions subject not only to public expectation and at times unprecedented political scrutiny but also to the winds of Europeanisation intensifying post-Lisbon as well as the forces of globalisation more generally.
