Predictor podcast for the fringe event at the Conservative Party Conference - ‘The Future of Local Public Services’
In advance of the 03 October 2011 Birmingham Policy Commission fringe event at the Conservative Party Conference, Professor Tony Bovaird presented an overview of the Commission’s work and recommendations.
As one of the Commissioners behind the report entitled ‘When Tomorrow Comes – The Future of Local Public Services’, Tony talks about the need for a radical shake-up in the way government works at the national and local level in order to make public services more effective and cost-effective in this era of austerity. Tony was one of the speakers at the Conservative Party Conference fringe event which explored the Commission's findings and, more specifically, the recommendation that the 21st century requires the development of a new generation of public servants. Other speakers at the event included Deborah Cadman OBE (Chair of the Policy Commission) and Mark Bramah (Assistant Chief Executive, APSE). The event was chaired by Professor Edward Peck of the University of Birmingham.
