Physician Associate

Working in partnership with hospitals and practices in the Midlands and beyond, the University of Birmingham has been training Physician Associates since 2008. Physician Associate (formerly known as Physician Assistant) is a rapidly growing healthcare role in the UK, working alongside doctors in hospitals and in GP surgeries. Physician Associates support doctors in the diagnosis and management of patients.

Pharmacy and Prescribing education

The School of Pharmacy has a number of primary educational roles in primary care including the MPharm train that trains pharmacists for primary care roles in the community in addition to hospital and other settings and the Certificate in Independent Prescribing training programme for pharmacists and allied health professionals predominantly based in primary care.
