Research into whether the furlough scheme and mortgage holidays prevented mortgage default published by government inquiry and accepted by Parliament
We are pleased to announce that the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee inquiry into the UK Government response to Covid-19 has published the evidence that Danny McGowan, Christoph Görtz and Mallory Yeromonahos submitted on how the mortgage holiday scheme affects financial distress: https://committees.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/36633/html/
Parliament have also accepted and published evidence from this study on the effects of the furlough scheme: https://committees.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/36613/html/.
This project investigates the extent to which the Job Retention Scheme and lender’s Mortgage Holidays, introduced during the Covid-19 crisis, reduced the incidence of mortgage default in the UK.
