Community Sponsorship Photo Competition (English language version)

The University of Birmingham is running a competition for all volunteers and refugees involved in Community Sponsorship.  Refugees welcomed to the UK through Community Sponsorship are being asked to take photos on the theme of “what makes me feel at home” and volunteers on “what I enjoy about being a Community Sponsorship volunteer”.

Each person can enter up to 5 photos but each photo must include a few words (no more than 100) on what it is about the image that makes you feel at home or captures what you enjoy about being a volunteer.  You can write in Arabic or English and can take photos of places, food, pets, people, objects...anything.  If you take pictures of people who can be identified in your photo then you need to ask their permission and get them to complete a form to say they are happy for you to use them in a photo.

The winning photographer for each of the volunteer and refugee competitions will receive a prize of £100 voucher.  We will also be selecting other photos for inclusion in an exhibition which will be available online and hopefully in real life if we can find the funds.

We do hope that you will get involved.  All photos should be sent by e-mail to a.bolstridge@bham.ac.uk – please put the words CS Photos in the subject line.  Please also write Volunteer or Refugee to let us know which competition to enter your photos into.

We look forward to seeing your photos soon.
