Eurochildren

On Tuesday 17 September, the Eurochildren Research Team will launch their ground breaking research findings in Edinburgh, showcasing a new Scotland-focused report, mapping the population of EU nationals over four decades.

This Eurochildren research offers a unique portrait of the disrupting effects of the Brexit referendum on EU families, including data collected with EU families who left the UK after the EU referendum.  Led by the Eurochildren Research Team from the Institute for Research into Superdiversity (IRiS) at the University of Birmingham, the research reveals the negative effects of Brexit protracted uncertainty on family relations, including breakup and enforced separations, as well as adverse effects on children, particularly for those who left the UK.  At the event, the team will launch a new research brief focused on the EU families in Scotland offering unique insights into the changing profile of EU nationals in Scotland from the 1970s to Brexit.

The launch event will feature speakers from the Eurochildren Research Team, as well as academics, policy makers, lawyers, and campaigners.  The event will begin with a presentation by the research team on the project and its findings, followed by a panel discussion chaired by Graham Blythe from the EU Commission in Scotland, Q&A session.
