Professor Kiran Trehan has been awarded the Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Award at the Business Desk’s Midlands Leadership Awards.

The Diversity and Inclusion award was presented to the person “who had championed diversity and inclusion, whether inside their organisation or as part of an outside group or initiative, and worked to improve the opportunities for any under-represented group.”  The Midlands Leadership Awards celebrated people that are role models within their organisations and raise the bar for their competitors. The winner needs to demonstrate the qualities of extraordinary leadership and be able to demonstrate the positive impact this has had in the region and nationally.

Kiran was nominated and won the award because  her  work combines the trifecta of research, education, and influence: she is utilising her research to make an impact on the businesses and communities with whom the University works, as well as educating the next generation of leaders in Business-related subjects. She has a strong track record in exploring and researching diversity in business, as well as using championing diversity and equality in the work force at the University of Birmingham, and throughout the region and nationally.

The event was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate great leadership and role models from across the West Midlands.
