Emma Partlow, Postgraduate Researcher in the Department of Social Policy, Sociology and Criminology, will be undertaking a secondment as part of winning the award of ESRC IAA ABC funding, and this will take place from June till September 2021.

This research is seeking to engage with young disabled people aged 18-25 who are looking to move into paid employment or having recently made this transition from Further or Higher Education. This project seeks to explore the unique experience of young disabled job seekers and recent recruits to analyse how they are experiencing this transition.

A key aim of this research is to create a resource that helps disabled young people to navigate the process of entering paid employment and negotiate recruitment processes and beyond. The findings from this research will be presented to the host organisation and other relevant stakeholders. This research is of key interest to the Work Inclusivity Research Centre (WIRC) at University of Birmingham.
