PhD Title: Structure and Function of GPCRs

Supervisors: Professor Mark Wheatley, Dr Josh Rappaport

Studying β-arrestin mediated desensitization/internalisation pathways of GPCRs by utilization of Bimolecular fluorescence complementation assay (BiFC).

  • BSc Hons. Zoology
  • MSc Molecular Biology/Biochemistry

Studied Zoology at Lahore College for Women University, Lahore, Pakistan and developed interest in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. After successful completion of BSc Hons. degree in Zoology studied for a MSc in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan . After the completion of MSc Maria Tahir worked as a research associate at Interdisciplinary research center in biomedical materials (IRCBM) for two years.

Involvement of different downstream effector proteins in desensitization/internalisation pathway of GPCRs. Utilisation of various fluorescent protein involving techniques in studying the β-arrestin mediated desensitization/internalisation of GPCR.
