George Berry, BSc in International Business Studies with Hispanic Studies | Researcher, Society

George BerryWhy did you originally choose Birmingham? Did it meet your expectations, and if so, how?

It had the perfect course for me - International Business with a year in industry plus Spanish as a minor. It was also a Red Brick, prestigious university with very good ranking. I also liked the location -in big city but not as expensive as London and close to get back to Wales and anywhere else. Plus I also have family in Birmingham.

What have you been doing since graduation?

For a while I was doing my own thing, reading, art, helping mum with stuff and doing volunteer work in Abergavenny until starting work in London in March.

What did you learn during your time at university that you’ve found valuable since leaving?

How to manage my time.

How did your time at university help your career prospects?

It was easy to have people look at your CV when you have a degree, especially one from UoB.

What advice would you give to someone who’s just about to start their degree?

Have as much fun as you can in first year, dont let stress get to you, choose people to spend time with wisely and don't let your standards slip.
