Julian is a current doctoral researcher on the ESRC 1+3 scholarship. He joined following a career in online marketing and analytics working across a range of industries for companies such as EMI Music, Vodafone and National Express. Prior to this Julian had 10 years in a range of supply chain planning roles for the beauty company Coty.
Julian first studied at the University of Birmingham in 2014 receiving a distinction on the MSc Strategic Marketing and Consulting course, winning prizes for both best dissertation and overall performance. His research interests build on both his academic and operational career in understanding consumer behaviour in today's digital society.

From wallet to mobile: Using the Theory of Consumption Value to explain consumer resistance to mobile proximity payments

PhD description:
Julian's research focuses on consumer resistance to mobile proximity payments which represent a continuum on the journey towards a cashless society. Moving away from traditional Information Technology approaches to innovation adoption through using a customer value lens to explore resistance within the lived experience.
