Stephanie is an Associate Professor in Accounting , specialising in Financial Reporting and Taxation.

Biography

Stephanie joined the Department of Accounting at Birmingham Business School in September 2021 from the University of Worcester, where she was a Senior Lecturer in Accounting between 2014 and 2021 and the Accounting and Finance Course Leader between 2018 and 2021.  Stephanie’s teaching specialisms are financial reporting and taxation.  She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Stephanie is currently studying for a PhD in Accounting and Finance at the University of Bristol, in the field of private company financial reporting.

Stephanie is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and has 14 years of professional practice experience.  She started her accountancy career at smaller firms in Birmingham where her roles involved the preparation of financial statements and corporation tax computations, bookkeeping and management accounting.  She then specialised in audit at Grant Thornton UK LLP in Birmingham between 2005 and 2013, where she was an audit manager working with a variety of businesses, from small owner managed organisations to large international groups, listed entities and charities.  She was also heavily involved in graduate recruitment, the summer internship scheme, local induction and training.

Stephanie is currently studying for a PhD in Accounting and Finance at the University of Bristol in the field of private company financial reporting.  Her research focusses on the impact of FRS 102 The Financial Reporting Standard in the UK and ROI on the comparability of private and public company financial statements.
