Responsible Business Academic Symposium
- Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre
- Lectures Talks and Workshops, Social Sciences
Academics from the University of Birmingham and beyond are warmly invited to the first annual Responsible Business Academic Symposium on Thursday 12 September 2019 at the University's Edgbaston Park Hotel.
Businesses of all sizes are becoming increasingly aware of the need to prioritise transparent corporate responsibility in order to promote a positive multiplier effect across society, the economy and the environment. To reach maximum impact sustainability targets, businesses are encouraged to work collaboratively with research partners.
This event will be an opportunity for researchers explore key issues and developments within many aspects of responsible business. Consideration will be given to how teaching and research at the University of Birmingham is changing the ways in which businesses can work towards a responsible future and in developing the next generation of responsible leaders, as well as how businesses and universities across the world are working collaboratively to promote best practice in corporate responsibility. Concepts for future teaching, research and collaborations will be at the forefront of discussions.
The symposium will include a keynote speaker, presentations from academics and alumni, and a poster exhibition. Full programme details will be announced in due course.
Registration and Submission
There is no conference fee, but to attend you must register before Wednesday 31 July 2019. Places are limited and will be issued on a first come, first served basis. Please note that all conference attendees, including non-presenters, are required to register.
Submitting a poster
Postgraduate Researchers are invited to submit poster abstracts of no more than 100 words to Rhiannon Sharp – conference organiser (firstname.lastname@example.org), clearly stating who is responsible for the research, project or work. Posters can portray your research or a presentation of any piece of work that is related to responsible business (such as a literature review and research methods to combat the issues identified).
Posters should be A1 (84cm x 59cm) in size and will be printed by the conference organisers. Further content and submission details will be provided on acceptance of your abstract.
A prize of £50 (in the form of a voucher) will be awarded to the best poster at the conference and at least one presenter per poster must attend the conference.
The deadline for abstract submissions is 17:00 on Friday 10 May 2019.
You will be notified if your poster abstract is accepted by Monday 3 June 2019.
