Birmingham MBA confirms place amongst global elite

The Economist’s WhichMBA? 2016 Global Rankings have today been announced, confirming Birmingham Business School’s position in the top 100 with a placement of 90th globally and as one of the top UK and European MBA programmes.

This is an enviable position when compared against competitor Business Schools, with rankings putting us 14th in the UK for our full-time MBA. This, paired with the recent news of our world-first accreditation from AMBA for our online MBA, reflects the continued commitment of the School to our MBA programme across all variants, and to the continued development of our postgraduate portfolio.

The sector continues to experience a significant increase in competition which has led to significant movement across the rankings for a number of global business schools over the last few years. As a consequence of this ever-increasing competitive environment, Birmingham Business School are proud to consistently be included in the top 100 and to be one of only 15 UK Schools now featured in the Economist rankings.

Professor Glyn Watson, Dean of the School, commented:

“In an increasingly strong MBA market it is excellent to see Birmingham’s full-time MBA retain its place in the world’s top 100. This reflects our continued investment in all areas of the programme in recent years and our continued approach to improving and tailoring our programmes to meet the needs of the ever-changing global business environment. Our recent programme of investment also includes a new dedicated building for postgraduate students who join our School, opened this summer, which is home to specialist facilities for MBA students. This and the commitment of our academic faculty will continue to strengthen our position in this and other key rankings in the coming years."

Some of the factors considered for the rankings include new careers opportunities, with Birmingham ranked 55th in the world in this area, a significant improvement on our position of 78th in 2015, putting us ahead of a number of other high-profile institutions with a placing of 4th in the UK. The School was also ranked highly in the ‘potential to network’ category, coming out 46th overall and ranked 7th in the UK.

Birmingham Business School offer a number of MBA programmes, including full-time, executive and online versions, as well as our overseas MBA with partners in Singapore.

The School is one of only a handful of the world’s business schools to hold the gold standard of ‘triple-crown’ accreditation from the AACSB, the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS).
