Early career researchers

Hiromi Yumoto is currently studying on the University of Birmingham’s PhD Management programme. Her PhD examines the factors influencing the legal and economic integration of refugees in the Netherlands using Dutch administrative data. 

Saul Basurto graduated in 2019 with a PhD in Economics from the University of Birmingham in which he examined the effects of climate change on agriculture. He contributed to the Evidence on intergenerational income transmission using complete Dutch population data project then moved to the Spatial Economics Department at VU to become a Research Fellow. 

Joris Klingen graduated in 2020 with a PhD in Spatial Economics from the Vrije Universiteit. He studied road safety, immediate effects of air pollution, and urban cycling. For the latter, he used public data of the bicycle sharing scheme in London. He currently works at the Municipality of Amsterdam as a Senior Data Scientist.
