Colm joined Birmingham Business School in September 2019. He was previously at Canterbury Christ Church University and he taught for several years at Queen’s University Belfast between 1998 and 2008. Colm has also worked in various consultancy positions and has been involved mainly with postgraduate and executive education over the past 4-5 years.

Research

Research interests

Colm has interests in the wider area of organisational studies and the transformative effects of higher education (HE) in particular.

He has recently published in topical areas such as:

  • experiential learning and business simulations
  • information systems in HE
  • career decision-making for HE students
  • self-determined learning (heutagogy) for business school students.
Current projects

Colm is working on various collaborative HE research projects, including:

  • success factors associated with ‘Young Enterprise’ programmes (e.g. in the Netherlands)
  • comparing attitudes to (graduate) digital competency among UK and European employers.
