Grigorios Lamprinakos has been a Research Fellow at Birmingham Business School since January 2020, based in the Lloyds Banking Group Centre for Responsible Business. The main focus of Grigorios' research is to examine the cognitive and metacognitive processes that drive responsible behaviour.

Biography

Greg's broader research interests focus on the cognitive and meta-cognitive processes that drive attitudinal and behavioral change. Specifically, the most recent line of research examines the relationship between meta-cognition and responsible decision making, particularly with regard to responsible and sustainable decision making. This project focuses on the moderating role of power on socially responsible behaviour, via thought validation. Results from this line of research suggests that self-validation may accommodate apparently contradictory sets of results, indicating that power can either increase or decrease socially responsible behaviour, depending on the momentarily salient mindset. Parallel lines of Greg’s research examine the effect of appraisals of emotions on heuristics and cognitive shortcuts, and their relationship with decision-making processes and consumption, the effects of austerity on european consumers behavioral patterns and the effects of Covid-19 pandemic on wellbeing and responsible behavior.

Greg obtained his PhD from Athens University of Economics and Business in Greece (department of Marketing and Communications) conducting his thesis in collaboration with the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in Spain (department of Psychology). He has conducted research in close collaboration with Ohio State University and Autónoma de Madrid working under the supervision of Pablo Briñol and Richard Petty, as well as in the Athens University of Economics and Business.

Greg additionally to the Lloyds bank center for responsible business, is currently both a member of (GAPI) International Group for Attitudes and Persuasion in the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and (GAP) Group for Attitudes and Persuasion in the Ohio State University. Part of his research has been published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, the European Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, and the European Journal of Social Science Education and Research among others.

In the last three years, Greg has worked as a Lecturer of Marketing for Oxford Brookes University (Business College of Athens Campus) and the University of Derby (UoB) where he taught various Marketing and Corporate Social Responsibility classes.
