Dr Shaukat Ali is a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Strategy and International Business at Birmingham Business School. Focusing on online and distance learning, Shaukat is an experienced academic with over 25 years working in academia.

Biography

Born in Punjab, Pakistan, Shaukat has spent most of his life in the UK.

Shaukat been teaching for over 25 years and has worked at other Universities both in the UK and abroad. Before entering academia, he worked in private industry as a remote control and telemetry systems engineer. Shaukat is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, British Academy of Management, Chartered Management Institute, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Chartered member of Institute of Engineering and Technology (UK), Chartered member of the Engineering Council (UK), Board member of International Management Development Association, (USA), Board of Directors of the Global Business and Technology Association (USA).

Shaukat has been consistently active in research with over 30 publications in conference proceedings, books and journals including Journal of East-West Business, Journal for East European Management Studies, Journal of Global Business and Technology, Journal of Transnational Management, Journal of International Management Practice, Journal of Transnational Management, Journal of Global commerce, Energy Policy, International Journal of Applied Behavioural Economics, Biomass and Bioenergy Journal, The Journal of Eastern European and Central Asian Research, Journal of Contemporary Issues in Business and Government, Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development and various volumes of Advances in Global Management Development. He has presented research at international conferences in over two dozen countries and have been involved in professional networking and service.

In terms of professional activity, Shaukat has had the honour to serve on the Board of Directors of the Global Business and Technology Association and the International Management and Development Association; serve as Associate Editor of the Journal of Current research in Global Business; Regional Editor (Europe) of the Journal of Global Business and Technology; Editorial Review Board member of the International Journal of Customer Relationship Marketing and Management; serve as a regular paper reviewer for the Journal of Global Commerce Research, Journal of Current research in Global Business, Journal of Management Practice and for annual conferences of numerous scholarly bodies. He has served or is currently serving as programme and subject external examiner for 8 UK Universities.
