Siti Farida will join the Birmingham Business School as a Lecturer in Finance in September 2021. She will obtain her PhD in Finance and Econometrics from Warwick Business School, University of Warwick prior to joining.
Her primary research interest is empirical corporate finance with a focus on mergers and acquisitions (M&As), leverage buyouts (LBOs), and innovation in relation to corporate finance. She studies what motivates acquisitions by public firms and why ownership forms of target matter for acquisition decision. In particular, Siti contributes in addressing the debate on why acquiring public target creates less shareholder values compared to acquiring private targets. She further examines the impact of acquiring public versus private targets on acquirers long-run innovation outcomes. Her recent paper in LBOs investigates spillover effects of LBOs on individual peers and major channels for the spillovers.
Siti will be teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate degree level.
