Dr Jacob Salder is a Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Management, and currently teaches the Entrepreneurship: Advanced Topics module on the MSc Management at the Singapore Institute of Management.

Jacob’s current research and publication activities focus on entrepreneurship and enterprise development processes in non-metropolitan areas, on local and regional economic development policy and strategy, and in creative industries entrepreneurship in the arts sector.

Biography

Dr Jacob Salder has a background in public policy, enterprise development, and entrepreneurship and teaches, researches and publishes in these fields with specific focus on business development practices and processes in resource-limited contexts.

Jacob has held posts at Birmingham City University and the University of Manchester prior to joining the University of Birmingham. He has also worked extensively in public policy roles in local and regional government.

Jacob’s research interest lie in the link between entrepreneurship/enterprise development, place-based economy, and the embeddedness of organisation and entrepreneur decision-making. Research and publications to date have focused on enterprise development processes in mature organisations based in non-metropolitan areas, creative industries entrepreneurship in early-stage and micro arts-based content creators, and the formation of place-based economy through relational, firm-level interactions.
