Before embarking on an academic career he worked in the financial services industry where he was a Director of Kleinwort Benson Investment Management and the CEO of the Tata Asset Management Company in Mumbai. Following 13 years as a fund manager specialising in N. American equity investments for investment trusts, mutual funds and pension funds he moved into the management of the business undertaking a variety of senior roles that included responsibility for a number of key relationships. During this time he lived for extended periods in the UK, USA, India and Taiwan . He has also worked in Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong and Canada.
