Gold 'nanoprobes' used to track blood flow in tiny vessels

Scientists have designed gold nanoparticles, no bigger than 100 nanometres, which can be coated and used to track blood flow in the smallest blood vessels in the body.

Dr Melanie Britton becomes first female chair the Division of Spatially Resolved Magnetic Resonance of the Ampere Society

Dr Melanie Britton, a Senior Lecturer in Physical Chemistry at the University of Birmingham, has recently been appointed as Chair of the Division of Spatially Resolved Magnetic Resonance of the Ampere Society. It is the first time in the society's history that a woman has held this position.

Birmingham chemist collaborates with renowned bioartist for new installation exploring the chemical nature of DNA

Institute of Advanced Studies and School of Chemistry to host global workshop on the future of Colloid Science

Description
Later this month, the Institute of Advanced Studies (IAS) and the School of Chemistry will bring together leading experimentalists, theorists, and simulators from around the globe with colleagues from Birmingham for a two day workshop to explore new futures in colloid science and its practical applications.
