Robert is a Teaching Fellow in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Birmingham. He previously studied and researched at the University of Southampton where he completed his masters and doctoral degrees.

  • PhD in coordination and supramolecular chemistry, 2019
  • Associate fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), 2017
  • MChem including a 6 month placement at AkzoNobel in Holland, 2014

Robert graduated in 2014 from the University of Southampton with a MChem degree with six month placement. His placement was undertaken at AkzoNobel in Deventer, Holland working in the field of organometallic chemistry.

Upon completion of his masters degree, Robert remained at the University of Southampton to carry out his PhD studies under the supervision of Dr Jonathan Kitchen. His research probed spin crossover based functional devices in both their synthesis and deposition, which included significant solid state analysis of the supramolecular structure of the materials.

He moved to the University of Birmingham in October 2018, to take up a teaching fellow role.

  • 1st and 2nd year inorganic courses, specifically coordination chemistry and organometallics.
  • Undergraduate practical chemistry including assisting with the development of the courses utilising the new CTL facilities.
