The University of Birmingham’s world-renowned centre for Shakespeare Studies, the Shakespeare Institute is where scholarship meets creativity. In collaboration with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), we contribute to creative life across the UK and beyond.
Creative activity at the Shakespeare Institute includes…
- The Shakespeare and Creativity MA is a unique postgraduate programme run in partnership with the RSC. It combines the unrivalled opportunities of studying Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon with the thrill of involvement in new creative work with the RSC.
- Creative student research at the Institute is continuous. Examples include a creative-critical meditation on A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and a practical exploration of the possibilities of verse drama today.
- Our academics are engaged in many exciting creative projects, including Professor Ewan Fernie’s development of a new play titled Marina and Dr Abigail Rokinson-Woodall’s history of The Other Place theatre.
