As part of the Green Heart Festival, UoB students perform a live art intervention on the Green Heart as a response to a day-long workshop with Alicia Radage and Ro Hardaker, and inspired by the Festival's seasonal theme of Celebration.

As part of the Green Heart Festival Dr Pablo Pakula has set up a year-long, extracurricular, pedagogical project giving students the opportunity to participate in a day-long workshop with established live artists, and then create and perform a live art intervention on the Green Heart itself.

For Live Art of The Green Heart #1 the invited live artists are Alicia Radage (UoB alumnus 2010) and Ro Hardaker. Radage▽ Hardaker is the close and messy collaboration between Alicia Radage and Ro Hardaker. Their performance and curatorial practice regards space, place and the body’s relation to objects within a framework of queer resistance and queer utopias. Together and separately they have shown work throughout the UK and internationally at SPILL (UK), TATE Modern (UK), Venice International Performance Art Week (IT), CuerpAs3 Feminist Performance Festival (CL), Queer Performatorium (CA), SUPERMARKET Independent art fair (Sweden) and Dublin Fringe (RI).

Students will enjoy a workshop with Radage▽ Hardaker on Tuesday 11 June. The workshop will be based on the themes of Celebration of Vitality, Growths, Deaths and Excesses. Participants will explore realisations and manifestations of their bodily processes through working with an excess of renewable material. The work they will make together will be messy, intimate, raw and unfinished.

Students will then plan and finalise their live art intervention with Dr Pablo Pakula as facilitator, before presenting their work on Monday 17 June. Due to the process-led nature of this project, exact times of the live art intervention can only be announced on Friday 15 June. Please check DTA's social media and this page after that date.
