The Urdang Academy was established in 1970 and has become one of the most respected musical theatre and dance conservatoires in the UK, with an international reputation. The new degree, validated by the University of Birmingham, is delivered exclusively at the Urdang Academy in London and offers students the chance to undertake specialist vocational training in dancing, singing and acting, leading to professional careers in the entertainment industry. Working in bespoke facilities, including studios, practice rooms and a treatment department, the course is taught by a range of highly experienced, industry-focused musical theatre and dance practitioners.

The programme adds to the University of Birmingham and Urdang Academy’s strengths in creative practice and world-leading teaching and research in theatre and performance. As the partnership gets underway, we look forward to student exchange activities between the two sites and courses, including sharing teaching expertise, student performance work and best practice across areas such as performer wellbeing and employability. We look forward to developing further opportunities for enhancing our partnership as the relationship gets underway.

We are delighted to be working in partnership with Urdang Academy, bringing together the expert scholars, theatre-makers and creative researchers in our School with Urdang’s expertise in dance and musical theatre training. This is sure to be an exciting collaboration for students now and in the future.
