Writing Development in Global Higher Education (WriDGHE)

We will create a very large corpus of student writing in a variety of contexts (undergraduate, postgraduate and pre-entry, in the UK, the US and in one to two Asian countries) in order to describe what develops in student writing in Higher Education. The team will assemble the corpus by inviting students to allow collection of all their written assignments during their period of study. The data will be used to characterise linguistic and rhetorical developments in the writing of students across time, and discipline, and will aim to identify what critical and expressive skills writers develop in a university education, with a focus on social sciences and humanities subjects.
