We were delighted that the highly regarded poet and writer Jackie Kay was our first speaker.

Jackie Kay is a Glaswegian of Scottish/Nigerian descent, whose distinctive voice is a spirited, subtle and unflinching tool for navigating between personal and collective identities across genres. She read from her recent publications The Lamplighter, Darling, Wish I Was Here and Red, Cherry Red, and talked about writing in different forms.
