Karen Brodie is the Primary Education Lecturer for the PGCE Primary Course and has worked in the education sector in the U.A.E., as a teacher trainer, for many years.
A qualified and experienced practitioner, with extensive Primary teaching practice, Karen is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the U.K.
Karen has worked in higher education on an Undergraduate Programme, developing and delivering education courses to support the development of students to qualify with a B.Ed. and work as teachers in the U.A.E. Her expertise in teacher training means she has a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and implementing best practice.
Karen also worked with the Ministry of Education as a Learning Coordinator for 7 years. In this role she worked on the Curriculum Development Team responsible for planning and developing a new Literacy Curriculum for Cycle 1 Primary Schools. She managed and supported the different school teams for the delivery of new Literacy, Maths and Science programmes in Primary, Middle and High Schools in Sharjah and Dubai. She was also a Teacher Development Specialist, mentoring and delivering CPD to teachers to enhance and improve pedagogical skills, as these new programmes were implemented within U.A.E schools.
Karen has been the primary PGCE Lead at UoBD since 2018.
