Beth Marley is the English Lead in Primary Education on the PGDipEd and School Direct Primary PGCE courses. She is the Programme Lead for the School Direct Primary PGCE and School Direct SEND PGCE. Beth previously taught in all phases in primary schools for over 20 years.

Teaching

Beth’s main responsibility is leading and teaching on the School Direct PGCE and School Direct SEND PGCE programmes. She is English module lead for the Primary PGDipEd and PGCE programmes and is link tutor to students from these courses during their school experience. Beth is module lead for the Undergraduate Placement module for the BA Education, BA Education and Sociology and BSc Psychology in Education students.    

Postgraduate supervision

Supervision of MA Teaching Studies and PhD students.

Research

Beth's research interests are in primary literacy education, particularly:

  • reading and reading comprehension
  • diverse children's literature
  • teacher agency
