James is an Academic and Professional Tutor on the Educational Psychology doctoral training course. In addition to this role, James is a practicing Educational Psychologist working in a West Midlands Local Authority and is also a Regional Tutor on the Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties distance learning program in the School of Education.

Biography

He spent 9 years studying in the School of Psychology at the University of Wales, Bangor, completing his BSc, MSc, and PhD. James’s PhD looked at the relationship between ADHD symptoms and academic performance. 

Following completion of his PhD, James gained a place on the Applied Educational and Child Psychology Doctorate course at the University of Birmingham, graduating in 2013. James’s doctoral research focused on the mental health of young people who have been excluded from school. Since qualifying, he has been working as an Educational Psychologist in a West Midlands Local Authority, before commencing his role as Academic and Professional Tutor on the Educational Psychology doctoral training course in October 2018. 

James has a long-standing interest in supporting and promoting the mental health of children and adolescents.
