Stella Knowles is an experienced school science teacher with a B.Sc in Psychology and a Masters degree in Education. She began her teaching career in 1975 teaching in London in state secondary schools. She lived in Malaysia for three years (1981-84) where her husband was teaching English and her son was born. She returned to UK in 1984 to Birmingham. She taught at several Birmingham schools for the next 29 years as well as giving birth to two daughters. She retired from school teaching in 2013 but continues to work both in the school classroom and tutoring teacher trainees as well as undertaking some interesting foreign travel ie. India, Peru, Jordan and is about to return to SE Asia ie. Vietnam and Cambodia. She also retains links with Uganda where she did some voluntary teaching in 2014 and continues to contribute to teacher training programmes at the University of the Great Lakes, Kanungu, SW Uganda.
