Sandy taught Science and Chemistry to A-level in secondary schools for 14 years. This included a secondment to the Royal Society of Chemistry as a School Teacher Fellow as part of the ‘Chemistry for Our Future’ project looking at strategies to overcome secondary to higher education transition issues. Prior to his appointment by the University of Birmingham Sandy was a Secondary Science Consultant for Birmingham Local Authority responsible for developing the teaching and learning of science in schools.

Teaching

Sandy teaches on the Science PGDipEd course with a particular responsibility for the Chemistry group. He is also a Link Tutor for the School Direct programme and teaches on The Post Graduate Certificate of Education for Health Professionals.

He is also a postgraduate supervisor on the MA in Teaching Studies, the MA by Research and he is a Joint Supervisor on the PhD programme.
