Joanne is an Honorary Associate Professor in the School of Education, University of Birmingham. She joined the University as a Lecturer then Senior Lecturer in Physical Education and held the positions of Programme Lead for Physical Education PGDipEd (QTS), Director of MEd/MA Teaching Studies and Programme Lead for PGDip Teaching Studies. Her research interests cover the areas of Physical Education, school leadership, emotions, emotional labour and emotional intelligence.

Biography

Before joining the University Joanne held senior management positions in secondary schools. These included Head of Physical Education, Head of Sixth Form, Co-ordinator for BTEC/GNVQ Advanced Diplomas and she held a position as a Local Authority Vocational Advisor. She contributed to the PGCE Physical Education programme at Loughborough University and was a member of their Advisory Group.
