Dr Huw Williams is a Chartered Senior Educational Psychologist registered with the Health Care Professions Council who teaches on the Applied Educational and Child Psychology programme. As an Academic and Professional Tutor Huw supervises Trainee Educational Psychologists and coordinates the Complex Individual Needs module for first year Trainees. Huw is interested in promoting the use of enquiry based, problem based and case based learning for research students.
Before training to become an Educational Psychologist Huw worked as a Qualified Teacher of Visually Impaired children with wide ranging interests in assessing visual and multi-sensory impairments in mainstream school, specialist school and college settings in the United Kingdom and abroad. Huw is currently working on a research project with the charity Sight Savers International on developing quality standards in Education, Assessment and Resource Centres for children with special educational needs and disabilities in Kenya.
In his specialist work for local authorities Huw provides psychological assessment and consultation for children and young people who are in public care and he also works with other vulnerable groups, including young offenders.
