Rachel joined the School of Education as a Research Fellow in April 2014 working on the Translation and Translanguaging research project. Before this she worked in the International Office and in the Careers Network at the University of Birmingham, assisting and coordinating large projects, being engaged in their financial administration, serving international and home students.  Rachel has accumulated practical knowledge and experience through working as a financial administrator for many years in multi-cultural organisations such as the Chinese Community Centre in Birmingham, Holiday Inn and Birmingham City Council.

Rachel also works as a freelance bilingual interpreter and translator for clients within the public and private sector. Until 2002, she worked as a lecturer at Xi’an Jiaotong University in China teaching English.
