The lecture at the forthcoming annual Clark Lecture in the School of Civil Engineering at the University of Birmingham will be delivered John Nolan, President of the Institution of Structural Engineers and Chief Executive of Nolan Associates. Mr Nolan will speak on the important topic of 'The Consulting Structural Engineer, Cost Versus Value'.
There will be an opportunity to find out more about the work Dr Mark Sterling and colleagues have been carrying out lately and to meet some of the staff from 16:00. Following Mr Nolan’s talk there will be a buffet and drinks reception.
Registration for this event is free but space is limited, so please secure your place by registering your attendance on the University of Birmingham’s online shop no later than 17:00 Wednesday 9 May 2012. Please note that while the system asks for your credit/debit card details the event is totally free and no charge will be made.

John Nolan is Chairman and Founder of Nolan Associates one of the largest Structural and Civil Engineers consultancies in the Midlands. A chartered member of the Institution of Structural Engineers and the Institution of Civil Engineers he has more than forty years experience in construction which includes working as a labourer, contractor’s engineer, consulting engineer, developer and client. He is President of the Institution of Structural Engineers and has chaired or been a member of many of its Committees, Panels and Task Groups. He is also Chairman of Antringham Developments and Global Cable Recovery and a director of Green Frog Power. He is also a member of the School of Civil Engineering Industrial Advisory Board at the University of Birmingham. John’s particular interests include optimisation of structures and educational standards.
