Electronic and Electrical Engineering has a long and distinguished history at Birmingham, from the appointment in 1905 of  Professor Gisbert Kapp as our first Professor of Electrical Engineering.

You can find a biography of Professor Kapp here, written in 1972 by Professor D.G. Tucker to mark the naming ceremony of the Gisbert Kapp Building. Professor Tucker was the seventh Head of Department of Electrical Engineering (1955-63) and became the first Head of Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (1963-72).
