Ying Xue is a Lecturer in the Department of Electronic, Electrical and Systems Engineering, School of Engineering. 
He has published a number of international journal and conference papers in the areas of HVDC, power system simulation technology and protection & control of electrical power systems. In particular, he has developed a new generation of Flexible LCC HVDC system, which has the potential to significantly increase the reliability and performance of future LCC HVDC systems.

Biography

Ying Xue graduated from University of Birmingham and Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) with BEng in electrical engineering in 2012. He then went on to study for a PhD in electrical engineering in the department of Electronic, Electrical and Systems Engineering in the University of Birmingham. In 2016, he started to work as research fellow for a Network Innovation Allowance (NIA) project in collaboration with National Grid. He took up the lectureship in 2017.

Dr. Xue’s research interests are control and topology innovations in HVDC & FACTS; modelling, control and real-time simulation of power systems with renewable energy systems; power system simulation technologies; protection & control of electrical power systems.
