Social Theory and Social Policy

Description

The course is designed to explain and comment upon the interaction between theories about the nature of society, the role of government and other key institutions and specific issue bearing upon social policy in Britain. Not all apparently ‘relevant’ theories turn out to have the same degree of impact. Moreover, while some theories appear to influence social policy within a short space of time, others take much longer to make an impression. Explanations of these differences will be sought.
