Speaker: Dr David N. Mortimer, Policy Lead, Environmental Contaminants in Food, Food Safety Policy (formerly Chemical Safety Division) Food Standards Agency (FSA)

The lecture will shed some light on the overall research programme on contaminants in UK food and give some details of ongoing, recently-started and forthcoming projects at the FSA. It will cover dioxins & PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls), new dioxins and dioxin-like compounds, BFRs (brominated flame retardants), Stockholm POPs (persistent organic pollutants) and PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons). The policy drivers in relation to the EU regulations will also be discussed.
