My name is Nadzmie Zulkifli. I'm an international student from Malaysia. The course that I'm currently studying is the MSc in Air Pollution Control and Management. It is under the School of Geography and Chemical Engineering.
The course is mainly about the causes and effects of air pollution, and about main strategies available to tackle air pollution. And what is so special about this course is that it is accredited by IAQM, which is the Institute of Air Quality Management.
The course is mainly delivered through lectures because it’s a taught programme. We have seminar once is a while delivered by external expert, and we do have lots of group work and it is very important.
For my dissertation I'm currently monitoring the air quality at the train station, and for that monitoring I'm using lots of different sensors made available by the University.
There are twelve students currently studying MSc of Air Pollution Control and Management. We have diverse international community for the postgraduates.
The reason why I choose Birmingham as my postgraduate studies is mainly because of the ranking of the University, and it offers the course that I'm interested in, and I completed my undergraduate studies here as well.
I do have plans after my graduation. Mainly I'm trying to get a job over here, and I've consulted the careers service whereby I’ve checked my CV and they have lots of networking for the jobs opportunities and I've tried to use that as well.
The main reason why I’ve chosen the University of Birmingham is mainly due to the high ranking of the university and it offers the course that I’m interested in.
My favourite thing of being a student in University of Birmingham probably would be the community, the diverse international community here. It makes me feel at home.
