"Working alongside industry partners has given me the opportunity to apply my knowledge learnt at university."

For my major project I worked with Hills (a quarrying company) for 2 weeks, where I researched the validity and accuracy of geological surveying as a means of resource estimation at two sand and gravel quarries in the Cotswolds. As part of this project I had to log the faces of the quarries and sieve sediment to determine grain size, meaning I will be able to estimate the economic value of the quarry.

Over the summer I also undertook an internship with a geotechnical and geoenvironmental firm, CGL. During the 10 weeks I worked for CGL I had the opportunity to interact with clients and assist in real life projects.

Working alongside industry partners has given me the opportunity to apply my knowledge learnt at university. This experience has meant that I have been able to develop my communication and analytical skills.
