Title of PhD: Changing Landscapes – the law and geography of the River Severn

Cal is undertaking doctoral research into the changing landscape of the River Severn, using theories of both geography and law to examine the relevant case law and legislation that applies to the River and its users. Initially exploring issues in legal geography, this study integrates both disciplines and reconciles the issues of the ‘legalscape’ with the ‘Severnscape’-of space, place and time with both the physical landscape and notions of the effects of the law on land use, habitats and the non-human environment.
