The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the ‘instrumental territorialisation’ (the concept based on Foucauldian and Deleuzian premise) of the Western Balkans, and the manner in which this process is enmeshed within wider political and cultural dynamics. Through this, I explore the relevance of theoretical concepts such as panopticon and heterotopia within the context of the region, while interrogating the different ways in which the rearrangement of the state and regional boundaries have been implicated in the rise of new identities and artistic practices.

Tihomir Topuzovski has three degrees (two BAs in Philosophy and Art, and an MA in Art), and has received various academic achievement awards and research grants.
