Biography

Dr Alexandros Chatzipavlidis obtained his BSc in Physics at University of Patras and received his MSc in “Physics and Technology of Materials” at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He then obtained his PhD in Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine at the National Technical University of Athens and the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the National Centre for Scientific Research "Demokritos" in Athens (Research Funding Program: “Heracleitus II. Investing in knowledge society through the European Social Fund” co-financed by the European Union (European Social Fund − ESF) and Greek national funds).

He joined the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences as a Marie Curie Research Fellow supported by H2020 MSCA-Individual Fellowship. His current research focuses on the nanoecotoxicological studies of Graphene Family Nanomaterials. His research also includes nanosafety, namely the analysis of the safety of nanotechnologies in the natural environment, and the implementation of the main research conclusions in order to mitigate identified risks and environmental impact and design-out potential drawbacks and hazards related to nanotechnology and its applications.
