Christopher Dean is a quantitative palaeobiologist studying diversity patterns in deep time. He is particularly interested in the spatial expression of fossil record biases and the impact these have on our understanding of ecology in deep time.

Qualifications

  • 2013 - MSci Geology – Imperial College London
  • 2018 – PhD – Imperial College London

Biography

Dr Dean completed his PhD at Imperial College London in 2018, researching spatial patterns in the palaeoenvironment, palaeoecolgoy and taphonomy of the Western Interior Seaway, USA. He has subsequently taken this current postdoctoral position working under the ERC project TERRA, where he will be applying new techniques in order to understand the impacts of biases on the North American mammal fossil record.
