17th workshop on Atmospheric Chemistry & Air Pollution (2019)

Welcome to the 17th workshop on Atmospheric Chemistry & Air Pollution (2019),  held at the University of Birmingham, UK on the 25 - 27 September 2019.  

Science Themes for the 2019 workshop are:

  • General Atmospheric Chemistry (including laboratory, field, chamber and model work)
  • Biosphere-Atmosphere interactions (including responses to environmental change)
  • Multiphase Processes (including chemical interactions in SOA formation, and PM evolution)
  • Atmospheric chemistry research to inform regional and national air quality policy

The workshop series provides an informal opportunity for presentation of recent results and ongoing projects. Recent workshops have been held in Leipzig, Lille, Valencia and Aachen. The meeting format is a combination of short contributed talks and a poster session, alongside a social programme / facility visit opportunity.

Travel and accomodation

Travel

The conference centre is across the campus about 8 mins walk from University train station, which is about 7 minutes train journey to Birmingham New Street national rail station (at least 4 trains per hour).

Birmingham New Street is about 12 mins by train to Birmingham Airport (BHX), or from 1hr 15mins by train to London (Euston, for connections on to Heathrow and Gatwick airports). 

A taxi from BHX to the University will take 30-40 mins and cost about £45; taxis from New Street to the University will take about 10 mins and cost about £15.

Car parking is available for guest of the Edgbaston Park hotel / Lucas House hotel.

Accommodation

Rooms (bed & breakfast) have been reserved at the Edgbaston Park Hotel (£90 per night) and the nearby Lucas House Hotel (£74 per night).  Alternatively the usual chain hotels can be found in Birmingham city centre.
